NOTE: Remember that Career Agents Network has attached the word “scam” to their own name, thereby clearly and forever establishing the link between them and its use. Not my term, but theirs.
UPDATED 04/17/2010!
The Department of Justice for the State of Oregon has issued a written warning to Career Agents Network regarding their “Military Scholarship”. See the information about this by visitng the Oregon DOJ website located at this link:

I’ve also included a link to a copy: Oregon Department of Justice Warning to CAN
Career Agents Network recently announced that they were conducting a “Military Scholarship Contest” in which members of our Armed Forces and Veterans could obtain a “scholarship” worth $10,000.00 to start their own recruiting business. Additionally, one lucky? (that’s certainly debatable) was awarded a $20,000.00 “scholarship” to start their own recruiting business.
Contestants were required to submit an essay on entrepreneurship, which were then supposed to be posted on their contest website and readers could vote for the best essay. I never remember seeing any essays posted, nor an ability to vote for the best one. Seems as though CAN chose to change their rules to suit their own ends (what a surprise!) and hand selected a winner they deemed most likely to suit their promotional goal.
When I first learned of this new CONTEST I was outraged and nauseated at the thought of CAN taking money from the people that have placed themselves at risk in defense of our liberties, while at the same time trying to quash my fredom of speech with scurrilous, baseless, and meritless litigation.
People returning from their service to this great nation should be showered with appreciation and the genuine opportunities that our forefathers have fought to protect; not given a “scholarship” on flawed business model that in most cases will end up with their loss of thousands of dollars.
If it were a true “Scholarship” then the educational portion would be covered under the G.I. Bill and CAN would have accreditation through some oversight organization as a legitimate school. Even Charlotte Byndas should know what a true school and scholarship environment is like. Didn’t she learn that while trying to complete her “less than a Bachelor’s” degree in Education at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan?
