EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT THE LIES!

An “open letter” of sorts was recently published by Paul Helm, the president of Health Career Agents Network. You can read it on their website. I’ve combined the two company names because that is a precise and exact representation of the facts. Paul Helm was listed as the President and an officer of Health Career Agents on their Corporate Annual Report filed with the State of Missouri on June 9, 2008. See it for yourself here: http://www.sos.mo.gov/imaging/19421578.pdf He is also listed as President and an officer of Career Agents Network according to the State of Michigan corporations annual report listed here: http://www.dleg.state.mi.us/bcs_corp/image.asp?FILE_TYPE=WEB&FILE_NAME=D200904\2009112\E0956435.tif

I won’t dispute most of their background information because I frankly don’t have the time nor interest in rehashing the route or path people take in developing a scam. I really don’t have a big interest in knowing how someone with “less than a bachelors degree” in education feels qualified to develop training programs costing upwards of $75,000 per “purchaser”. It might be interesting to know how someone selling automotive parts suddenly becomes qualified as an Internet Technology Recruiter, but who really cares?

Multiple scams for multiple streams. Mr. Helm mentions he built a company that was the primary lead generation service for the HCA group. The truth is that he was selling individuals a membership to Strategic Research Network where they would pay $17,500 to learn how to “conduct research” in generating call lists they would then be able to sell to recruiters, such as those that signed up and paid for an HCA membership. The lists generated by these “researchers” were crap and I don’t know if any of them are still in business since their website is a compilation of broken links and non-referring pages. At least they figured out how to remove the malware script from their web page that was present a few months ago. Generates a lot of confidence in a “technology” company that has a virus auto-loading onto your computer when you visit their website doesn’t it?

Paragraph Five and the skeleton….

The truth of the matter according to statements by Charlotte Byndas is that she and Paul knew about Brian Marchant-Calsyn’s felony drug conviction and opted to continue WORKING FOR HIM. That is significantly different than when you are investing tens of thousands of dollars in membership in his scheme. Why did they consider it less valid for people PAYING money for a membership to have full disclosure when they had the benefit of that knowledge when RECEIVING money from him. Because they knew that fewer people would want to do business with them and so they hid those facts to maximize revenue.

Awww… poor, poor, Brian being taken to the “woodshed”.

Since every contract with HCA requires litigation on Brian’s home turf, the expense and inconvenience of traveling to St. Louis every time an appearance was necessary simply made the battle a “win by wearing them down” exercise. Check the court dockets with their 50, 60, or more entries, continuances, and legal maneuvering to see how this tactic is deployed. Paul Helm contends that this litigation nearly “buried the company” and Brian has maintained in a blog that the litigation and bad press severely handicapped the company. That flies in the face of Charlotte Byndas’ sworn testimony that they were attempting to capitalize on the goodwill of Health Career Agents and “optimize” their name Career Agents Network to take advantage of this “goodwill”. Following that logic would leave you to believe that if they were in the investment business they’d opt to build upon the goodwill of Bernie Madoff and form a company utilizing his name.

Behind the scenes Charlotte and Paul were looking to buy the company and because of restrictive covenants could only “buy [their] way out”. This also flies in the face of deposition testimony where Charlotte Byndas states (page 22 of deposition) that there was “No” exchange of money. So, is Brian (HCA) getting monthly or quarterly payments, commissions on every new member, or a piece of the action as a percentage of annual revenue? Since Health Career Agents is still listed as an active Missouri Corporation it would be useful to know if they are receiving funds that could be levied in satisfaction of future litigation awards.

No affiliation?

Career Agents Network is running the website healthcareeragents.com and until recently operated it in direct competition with every member that paid for this business opportunity. It has recently been changed to a job board website and promotional tool to assist “Charlotte’s Pets” in promoting their jobs. These “Pets” of Charlotte are the lap dogs that have been around for awhile, milk the revolving door of members for candidates and build their business in the exact opposite way promoted as the “Agent Approach”. You will readily recognize the names since there are only a very few that have done well so they need to hoist their flag up the pole to use as a “you can do it too!” example, yet more than 90% of those that pay tens of thousands of dollars for membership ditch the business (and their tens of thousands of dollars) within a short period of time .

Cyber Attacker?

Apparently anyone that doesn’t fall into line and spew the company propaganda is considered an attacker. The very fact that this organization attempts to quash negative commentary, crush First Amendment rights, and churn out press releases that paint them in a positive manner should give you cause for concern. Instead of sitting down with people that would like to instill ethics, credibility, and truthful business operations into their organization they denounce, resist, and attack those critical of their flawed business model. There is something fundamentally wrong with an organization that according to their own words had “100 success stories” from HCA come with them to CAN. Bear in mind that many of what they term “success stories” are actually people that were hoodwinked into signing the CAN agreement as part of being offered a “forgiveness” on a miniscule portion of money owed to the finance arm of Health Career Agents. That also would mean that more than 900 were either out of business or didn’t want anything to do with them. If they feel that a business opportunity with a 10 percent success record is a valid business model they are even more misguided, misinformed, and out-of-touch than previously contended.

They insist that they cannot provide potential members with any semblance of success or failure rates. They will insist that they cannot provide you with any estimate of earnings during your first 90 or 180 days. Well, as the voice of friends and colleagues in the 90% or so that paid tens of thousands of dollars and generated no income, lost their homes to foreclosure because they couldn’t pay the loan back, ended up in divorce, or filed for bankruptcy I can tell you it is a scam.

Paul Helm mentioned my gripe site against the American Cancer Society with a sarcastic “Go Figure”. Let me explain that I am in love with a phenomenal woman that has survived Cancer FOUR times. Her most recent bout was with Breast Cancer in 2004 when she had bilateral mastectomies. She was give a 48% chance of making it to her 5th anniversary and has had several “scares” during this intervening time, one a preemptive surgical strike against ovarian cancer in 2008. My website is against an institution that has not fulfilled its promise to humanity by eradicating Cancer during its 64 year history. I find it repugnant that the people sitting on the board of directors are from the same companies and industries profiting from the disease and in many instances are the cause of it. Read Dr. Samuel Epstein’s book “Cancergate” along with other scholarly articles and make your own decision on whether to blindly follow the pack or try to make a real difference. I would suspect that Paul Helm or Charlotte Byndas would also try to disparage her website http://breastcancersucks.com or trivialize her courageous survival.

What is truly a despicable, reprehensible, and a nauseating act is trying to use my love and devotion to a cancer survivor as a method to make me give in to their draconian demands. How low can one person sink in an attempt to hurt me? Charlotte Byndas knew that my sweetheart was undergoing some difficult health challenges and threatened that if I didn’t pay her legal fees and agree to every other term of surrender they would include her in on “everything” in this lawsuit. I might have capitulated out of concern for my sweetheart’s well-being, but she told me not to let these [expletives] get away with it. She has been hospitalized three times since, has uncontrolled hypertension, and I question following that decision daily.

Yes, I have an issue with an organization that doesn’t fulfill its promise. Yes, I have an issue with an organization that allows its member to perish. In the very same way that I have a problem with an organization that holds out their hand in hope to someone desiring to work a home-based business knowing full well that less than 10 percent will fit in the lifeboat and the ticket they bought was merely providing gas money to keep the captain and their trusty elite afloat.

Contrary to his assertion, my business has been modestly successful and I am definitely not displeased with MY performance. My modest success is DESPITE their substandard training and virtually worthless “tools” not because of them. I keep receiving calls from HCA recruiting colleagues telling me “I had to throw in the towel, I ran out of money”. It is not just my own disgust with these people that caused me to try and warn others about this company, it was even more for the people that didn’t have the money, the time, or the resources to spread the word. I was willing to be their “voice” and over the past months have paid a very high cost to distribute information you really need to know before handing over money to this “business opportunity”.

Certainly, you can get on a plane, look in their eyes, and shake their hand. Just make certain your cynicism mechanism is on high alert, and don’t agree to anything until you have performed a thorough due diligence. When a company is less than 18 months old and has at least 1 complaint (often more) filed with Attorney Generals in all 50 states and 5 territories, it should turn on the warning flashers.
